Rich Radigonda - Artist
The mallards you see on the

web header are the work of Rich Radigonda. Rich is more than an extraordinary artist. He is an extremely generous person and a very good friend of the Mitchell family. From a very young age I (Jason) appreciated Rich because he was an extremely good duck hunter, duck caller and joker. He would keep my brother Matt and me in stitches as he would endlessly give the business to my Dad. On top of that, his duck call of choice was the Iverson Duck Call.
Rich was one of my early duck calling influences. He was probably the first to teach me what it meant to reach the “peak pitch” of the reed. He had a very unique approach to his calling with his Iverson Old Style that I spent hours mimicking as a teenager. He was more than an early encourager of my competitive duck calling as well.
Rich, a San Francisco native, grew up spending a lot of time on the shores of the San Francisco Bay. He was fascinated with waterfowl, and unbeknownst to his parents, he built rafts to try (unsuccessfully) to get closer to the ducks loafing near Hunter's Point. Rich’s father introduced him to duck hunting, auto racing, and air shows at very early age. These three activities would shape his life and art.
By the late 60's, Rich began collecting antique duck decoys and developed an interest in the contemporary decoy carving contests being held on the East Coast. He tried his hand at carving, and his fourth creation won a Blue Ribbon -- and his part-time art career was launched.
Now some 40 years later, Rich is an extremely respected artist in the mediums of wood, paint and photography. Please visit Rich’s website for a more detailed biography and a look at his fine work.
"If people who view my work become more aware of this wonderful
Country of ours, then I feel I have made a difference. My artwork and the subjects I create are a passion that drives me."
